Jon Hamm said he worked on set of 'softcore porn movies' for Cinemax

Jon Hamm is revealing just how thankful he is for the opportunity to star on AMC’s hit show Mad Men, remembering a particularly seedy job he had before he made it in Hollywood.

Hamm, who plays ad executive Don Draper on the show, spoke with Vanity Fair about the clip that recently surfaced of a young Hamm on a dating show.

In the clip Hamm was seen promising a night of “fabulosity.” The then-25-year-old said, “Well, I start off with some fabulous food, a little fabulous conversation, and a fabulous foot massage for an evening of fabulosity.”

"I was actually at that time working as a set dresser for Cinemax softcore porn movies. It was soul-crushing,” he said.

He also talked about his role on Mad Men, calling it the “best job I've ever had and maybe ever will have in my life.”

Hamm admitted "It can be relentlessly dark. It can be terribly sexually inappropriate, is a way to say it. But who else gets a chance to do any of that stuff? There's so much there."

The last season of Mad Men will be split in two parts - with the first seven airing this spring and last seven airing in spring 2015.
