The New York Post reports that Broderick and Neil will star in It's Only a Play, an updated version of Terrance McNally's 1986 comedy.
The play is reportedly about "life in theater." It takes place in the apartment of a producer, whose play is opening that night. Entitled The Golden Egg, some people are hoping for good reviews, while others hope for a flop.
According to WENN, Broderick will play the nervous producer, and Lane will portray the role of his jealous friend.
While contracts haven't been signed as of yet, Jack O'Brien is set to direct, with Tom Kirdahy, McNally's husband, set to produce.
Broderick and Lane starred in the 2001 production of The Producers, which became one of the best musicals of all time. Lane won a Tony Award for Best Leading Actor in a Musical. They also co-starred in the 2005 revival of Neil Simon's The Odd Couple.
It's Only a Play is scheduled to open this fall.
