New era of ‘Call of Duty’ to feature Kevin Spacey

By Chris Howcroft,

Kevin Spacey has spent the last few years playing Frank Underwood in the Golden Globe winning political drama House of Cards. Spacey will now be a part of Sledgehammer Games' new Call of Duty game which is going to be titled Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.

IGN reports that a teaser video was posted on the official Call of Duty Instagram which features a close-up of Spacey’s eye as well as Spacey doing narration in the background in his very noticeable Frank Underwood accent.

Call of Duty also released a trailer video on YouTube as well as a new screenshot featuring several soldiers in exoskeleton armor suits.

If you are a fan of the first or third person shooter video game franchise, you know that a “new era” of Call of Duty video games will only attract new fans to the franchise and keep the excitement going with the current fans. Call of Duty has sold over 100 million copies and the new games should only increase that number.

The teaser video indicates that Kevin Spacey could potentially be portraying the new villain in the upcoming game, according to GameSpot. The official website shows a countdown that announces that the official reveal will be on May 4 at 1:00 p.m.

It is interesting that at the end of the video, the XBOX One and Microsoft logos are shown, but noticeably absent is the PlayStation logo. If you are a fan of PlayStation, you definitely hope that they will be a part of this “new era” of Call of Duty. According to the primary publisher of the game, Activision, they say this could be “the best Call of Duty game ever created.”

This Sunday we will learn more about the next chapter in the popular video game franchise and the role Kevin Spacey will have in the series.
