Actress Shailene Woodley admitted she was a bit emotional over losing seven inches of her hair for her new role in the movie adaptation of John Green’s novel The Fault in Our Stars.
MTV News reports that during a visit to the Pittsburgh set, the Divergent star dished about her new role and the hairdo that followed, during which Woodley graciously gave them the video of the life altering experience. Woodley admitted, “It was a super-fun moment.”
The video shows a hairstylist cutting four large locks from Woodley. Towards the end she repeatedly exclaims, “I just can’t look yet.”
In The Fault in Our Stars, Woodley plays a teenage cancer patient alongside love interest Ansel Elgort. According to the New York Daily News, the 22 year old actress chose to donate her hair to the group Children With Hair Loss that creates wigs for children who lost hair because of chemotherapy treatments.
After cutting her hair a few more inches, Woodley confidently told USA Today, “Now I love it. It’s just free and fun and loud.”
The Fault in Our Stars open in theaters on June 6.
