Michael Jace, 48, was arrested Tuesday morning at 2:15 a.m. P.T. on the suspicion of murdering his wife, April, 40. The couple had been married for 10 years and had two boys under 10 years old.
Police were responding to a call in the Hyde Park area at the 5400 block of Brynhurst Avenue that included three gun shots. Jace is an actor known for The Shield and playing a Black Panther member in Forrest Gump.
April was found lying dead in a hallway of their home with multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body. Their two children were home during the incident but it is unclear whether or not they witnessed the shooting.
"It's a grieving process for both children," LAPD detective Sal LaBarbara told NBCLosAngeles. "They're without their mom and their dad is in jail for the murder of their mother."
Just moments before the gunshots, neighbors heard the couple arguing.
So far, Jace is the only suspect in the case and he has reportedly confessed to shooting his wife to death. When police arrived, he did not have a gun in his possession, reports The Los Angeles Times. This was the first time police had to respond to a call at Jace's home.
