What do you get when you add an elevator to Solange Knowles's digital downloads? A rise. (Ba dum tss) The singer's career is finally taking off.
According to Hip Hop DX, since the incident with Jay Z in the elevator, Knowles's digital downloads have risen to 2,000. The week before, her digital sales were at 600.
According to the Daily Mail, her 2003 debut album, Solo Star, failed miserably. Since then, the star has been working hard to find the right formula for a hit.
Solange attacked her brother-in-law, Jay Z, on an elevator at the Met Gala, May 5, for unknown reasons. Since then, the two have released a vague, joint statement, both taking responsibility for what happened.
Older sister, Beyonce, has done her best to stay out of it.
Meanwhile, as Solange's sales continue to rise, one might speculate that the incident was not really an incident after all. Maybe it was a publicity stunt to help the struggling singer.
Either way, numbers don't lie. Solange finally embarked on the "hit" she has been waiting on.
