Top 10 Rose Byrne films

From a Neighbor to a Bridesmaid, Rose Byrne has been in many great movies. She’s played an aristocrat and a Google employee. The Australian has used her American accent and even a French one. She’s a shining star in films and television. With her new film, Neighbors releasing this weekend, it is a great time to look at Byrne’s career.

Byrne was born in Balmain, Australia. She moved to the United States to pursue her acting career. Byrne’s first credit of acting is in the 1994 film, Dallas Doll, when she was 13-years-old. Since then, she has appeared alongside actors from Patrick Wilson to Nicolas Cage.

While Byrne has been great in films, she’s also been very talented on television as well. She appeared in the FX series, Damages, from 2007-2012. It is a legal drama that stars Byrne as Ellen Parsons, assistant to Patty Hewes (Glenn Close), a ruthless lawyer. The television series received critical acclaim and won multiple Emmys and Golden Globes.

Why it’s great: It’s a typical Vince Vahn film. It is character driven and has funny moments. Dana is a hard worker and it is hilarious to see her let loose with Nick.

Movie plot: This movie follows Marie Antoinette (Kristen Dunst) as she grows up as the charming daughter of an emperor. She is selected to marry Louis XVI and become queen. The movie follows the young girl in her life.
Why it’s great: It is great because Kristen Dunst makes it. She is perfect in her role. Sure, Byrne is great as her rich friend but it is Dunst that keeps us watching.

Why it’s great: The film is a unique type of romantic comedy. Adam has Asperger’s syndrome and the film manages to make the fictional relationship seem more grounded.

7. Get Him to the Greek

Character name: Jackie Q
Movie plot: This film is a spin-off of Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Aldous Snow (Russell Brand) is an out of control rock star with his pop star girlfriend Jackie Q. After a break in his career, he is planning to have a show at the Greek Theater. Aaron (Jonah Hill) has to take him there.
Why it’s great: It’s funny. Jonah Hill playing the stressed worker bee against Russell Brand’s crazy rock star is awesome.

Character name: Kelly Radner
Movie plot: Mac (Seth Rogen) and Kelly (Byrne) are a young couple living in a neighborhood with their baby. When a fraternity moves next door, the frat and the family get into an all out war.
Why it’s great: Kelly is the smartest one out of all of the guys and knows how to get under the frat boys’ skin. She comes out as the real winner of it all. Plus, it’s really funny.

5. The Place Beyond the Pines

Character name: Jennifer
Movie plot: Luke (Ryan Gosling) is s stunt driver who attempts to rob a bank to provide for his son. Officer Avery Cross (Bradley Cooper) is the one after him while in a police force full of corruption.
Why it’s great: It’s a dark movie with dramatic and romantic moments. Ryan Gosling and Bradley Cooper are perfect, like night and day.

4. Star Wars: Episode II- Attack of the Clones

Character name: Dormé
Movie plot: This movie shows the romance between Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) and Padmé Amidala (Natalie Portman). At the same time Obi-Wan (Ewan McGregor) discovers a secret clone army.
Why it’s great: It’s a Star Wars film so, obviously, it’s going to be great. This one, unlike some of the older films, had great special effects.

3. Insidious

Character name: Renai Lambert
Movie plot: Insidious is a typical horror film. A couple moves into a haunted house. This one also includes a child in a coma and a demon taking over a child.
Why it’s great: It is scary in all of the right places. It isn’t cheesy at all. All of the actors seem to be just as scared in the situation as the audience is. There is also a second Insidious film but it isn’t as good.

Character name: Moira MacTaggert, one of the humans on the X-Men’s side.
Movie plot: This is a prequel, per se, to the other X-Men films. It follows all of the mutants as they work together to defeat Shaw. This was before they were all enemies. It’s just a bunch of special kids hanging out.
Why it’s great: It’s all of the X-Men before they were adults. This was before Professor X was even Professor X. It is interesting to see all of them getting together and understanding their powers.

Character name: Helen Harris
Movie plot: Annie’s (Kristen Wiig) is a maid-of-honor to her best friend Lillian (Maya Rudolph) and her life is falling apart. As she tries to plan the wedding, she clashes with Lillian’s new friend Helen (Byrne). There are wedding planning troubles along the way that include getting kicked off planes and getting food poisoning. It is considered to be the female version of The Hangover.
Why it’s great: While normal R-rated films are about buddies causing a ruckus, Bridesmaids was all about the ladies. Its strange how a film can be uplifting with a scene of a woman pooping in street.
