Hip-Hop celebrates a birthday for the decided icon, the Notorious B.I.G., who was born on May 21, 1972. He would have been 42 years old today if he were still alive.
Born Christopher George Latore Wallace, the Notorious B.I.G. is known for making classic rap songs and being fatally shot to death at the young age of 24.
“His time in hip-hop became embroiled by the infamous East-West Coast rivalry, which would ultimately lead to his downfall. B.I.G. had only released one album when he was shot and killed at the young age of 24,” said Nikita Rathod of hotnewhiphop.com.
The younger generation of rap artists still mourn his loss even after being dead for 17 years. It is as if the Notorious B.I.G. has become more notorious dead than he was alive.
"Damn, Biggie would have been 42 today. Would have been interesting to see how Hip Hop would have evolved if we didn't lose so many greats at an early age," said Funk Volume, who is a well-known up and coming rapper, reported by HipHopDx.
His legacy remains that he was one of the greatest rappers in Hip-Hop history. You cannot mention what people like to call the golden era of Hip-Hop in the 1990’s and not mention his name.
