X-Men: Days of Future Past is already dominating at the box office with pre-sales, late night shows and a strong Friday evening. The film has already made $8.1 million domestically, but the film is also seeing strong social media buzz.
Variety reported that the film has over 11 million likes on Facebook and the trailer for Days of Future Past has 112 million views. The X-Men franchise has now passed popular films such as Captain America: The Winter Soldier and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in Facebook likes.
Early predictions for Days of Future Past have the movie making around $120 million over this labor day weekend. A sequel to the movie is already in the works and fans get to see a short clip after the end credits of Days of Future Past.
The X-Men film is also tracking above other popular comic book films in online review.
Business Insider reported that for fans who stay through the credits they are treated to what is now commonly referred to as an "end credit scene," which features insight into the X-Men sequel, X-Men: Apocalypse. Fans see for the first time what the legendary villain will look like on screen.
