Authorities said that former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez was taken to a hospital over the weekend for an undisclosed medical reason.
Bristol County Sheriff Thomas Hodgson told CNN that the former NFL star spent less than a half hour at an area hospital. Hodgson was not able to share exactly why Hernandez was taken there, but stressed that it was not over a fight or security issue.
Last week, it was reported that the 24-year-old’s lawyers put in a request to get him transferred to a jail located closer to Boston due to worries over his safety. They also claimed that Hodgson is violating their client’s privacy and rights.
Hodgson said he was aware of the allegations and that they were untrue.
Hernandez is currently being held without bail for the June 2013 murder of Odin Lloyd as well as the July 2012 murders of Safiro Furtado and Daniel de Abreu.
He has pleaded not guilty to all three of the murders.
