Andy and Lana Wachowski, the filmmakers behind The Matrix trilogy, Cloud Atlas and the recently-delayed Jupiter Ascending, are just the next entertainers making the jump to Netflix, as more details about their upcoming Netflix show Sense8 are now known.
As Deadline exclusively announced, the upcoming 10-episode series from the visionary filmmakers will be airing on Netflix sometime in 2015.
The show, which centers around eight characters across the planet who, after a tragic death, find themselves linked to one another emotionally and spiritually, has set its cast.
Those stars — who are more than eight — include Naveen Andrews (Lost), Daryl Hannah (the Kill Bill series), Brian J. Smith (Stargate Universe), Aml Ameen (the upcoming Maze Runner), Freema Agyeman (Doctor Who), Tena Desae (The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel), Max Riemelt, Alfonso Herrera, Erendira Ibarra, Jamie Clayton, Miguel Silvestri and Terrence Mann.
Additionally, Donna Bae (Cloud Atlas) and Tuppence Middelton (Jupiter Ascending) will be returning to work with the Wachowskis on the show.
Each episode is expected to follow a different character, much like the latest season of Arrested Development. Writing the series will be the Wachowskis and J. Michael Straczynski (Thor). The idea for the show was first announced by the filmmakers last March.
This makes the Wachowskis just another set of talents making themselves first priority to Netflix, as yesterday it was announced that talk show host Chelsea Handler would be moving from E! to the streaming service starting next year.
