Celebrity Birthdays, June 22: Meryl Streep, Carson Daly and Donald Faison

Actress Meryl Streep, television personality Carson Daly, and actor Donald Faison are all celebrating their birthdays today.

Meryl Streep, 65

Theater, film and television actress Meryl Streep turns 65 today. Streep made her theater debut in The Playboy of Seville in 1971. In 1977, she made her television debut in the TV movie The Deadliest Season. That same year, she made her big screen debut in 1977s Julia. Streep earned critical and commercial success with her roles in The Deer Hunter and Kramer vs. Kramer, the first of which brought her an Academy Award nomination, and the second, her first Academy Award win for Best Supporting Actress. She later won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her roles in Sophie's Choice and The Iron Lady. Streep has earned a total of 18 Academy Award nominations in 35 years, and holds the record as being the most nominated actor in history.

In her career, Streep has also received 28 Golden Globe nominations, winning eight. She also earned two Emmy Awards, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, a Cannes Film Festival award, five New York Film Critics Circle Awards, two BAFTA awards, two Australian Film Institute awards, five Grammy Award nominations, and a Tony Award nomination, among several others. She was awarded the AFI Life Achievement Award in 2004 and the Kennedy Center Honor in 2011 for her contribution to American culture through performing arts. President Barack Obama awarded her the 2010 National Medal of Arts.

Streep married sculptor Don Gummer in 1978. They have four children, Henry, Mamie, Grace, and Louisa Jacobson. Both Mamie and Grace are actresses, and Henry is a musician.

Carson Daly, 41

Television host, radio and television personality Carson Daly turns 41 today. Daly gained recognition as a VJ on MTV's Total Request Live, and a DJ for the Southern California based radio station 106.7 KROQ-FM. In 2002, Daly joined NBC, where he began hosting the late night talk show Last Call with Carson Daly, and occasionally hosting special event programming for NBC, such as the Macy's Fourth of July fireworks show and New Year's Eve with Carson Daly from Times Square beginning in 2003. In 2011, Daly started hosting the NBC reality music competition The Voice. In 2013, Daly joined NBC's morning show Today as a social media correspondent.

Daly's mother is a breast cancer survivor and has joined her in becoming a breast cancer activist. Daly is currently engaged to Siri Pinter, daughter of actor Mark Pinter. They have a son, Jackson James, and a daughter, Etta Jones. While interviewing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Daly revealed that he and his fiancée are expecting baby number three.

Donald Faison, 40

Actor and comedian Donald Faison turns 40 today. Faison first appeared in a 1991 commercial for Folgers Coffee at the age of 17. The following year, he appeared along with Malik Yoba, in the ABC News special Prejudice: Answering Children's Questions. He then became famous for his role as "Murray Lawrence Duvall" in the 1995 film Clueless, as well as the television series that followed, which ran from 1996 to 1999. In 1995, he also appeared in Waiting to Exhale. He also starred in Big Fat Liar alongside Frankie Muniz, Paul Giamatti, and Amanda Bynes. He had a recurring role on the television series Felicity, and appeared in the film Remember the Titans. Faison provided voice work for various characters in the MTV animated series Clone High. He had minor roles in the sitcoms Sister Sister and Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, and in the film Josie and the Pussycats. He also appeared in Skyline, Pitch Perfect and Kick-Ass 2

Faison earned the leading role of Dr. Chris Turk in the ABC comedy Scrubs from 2001 until it's end in 2010. He currently plays Phil Chase on the TV Land comedy, The Exes.

Faison married CaCee Cobb, former personal assistant to Jessica Simpson, in December 2012. Faison has five children, 4 of which from previous relationships, and one with Cobb.
