Chloe Grace Moretz, the actress who portrayed Hit Girl in theKick Ass film franchise, hinted that there might not a third film and threw the blame for the poor box office performance of the second film on Internet piracy.
After winning Best Performance by a Young Actor for Carrie at the Saturn Awards, Moretz stopped to speak with Movies with Butter, and spoke about a possible third installment of Kick-Ass.
“You know, I hope, I wish,” Moretz said. “That’s be fun. That’d be great. I doubt it, but I would love it."
She then threw blame on Internet piracy for the weaker box office results of Kick-Ass 2. “The hard thing is if fans want a third movie, they’ve got to go buy the ticket to go see the movie,” Moretz said.
“It was like the second most pirated movie of the year, so if you want a movie to be made into a second, a third, a fourth and a fifth, go buy a ticket. Don’t pirate it.”
IGN reports that Kick-Ass 2 only managed to earn $60.8 million worldwide, which was a huge drop from the first film's $96.2 million.
Was it Internet piracy that doomed the second movie or was it that the film just wasn't very good?
