'Duck Dynasty' family member running for Congress, turning against 'kissing Congressman'

By Daniel S Levine,

The Robertson family, stars of the hit A&E show Duck Dynasty, could have a relative in Congress soon. Zack Dasher has announced that he is running for the 5th Congressional District of Louisiana, the seat currently held by the infamous Rep. Vance McAllister, best known as the ‘Kissing Congressman.’

Dasher’s uncle is Phil Robertson, the patriarch of the Duck Dynasty family, which made its fortune making duck hunting equipment. He told The Shreveport Times that he has the full support of the family.

“I want to help restore America to what she once was — a nation that builds freedom and prosperity on the anchor of God,” Dasher told the local paper.

He also announced his plans to run on Twitter and launched a campaign site.

The Robertsons had supported McAllister, who has refused to resign, despite being caught on tape kissing a woman who wasn’t his wife. He has said that he plans to not run for re-election.

In an interview with the Associated Press, Dasher said that McAllister’s actions were not the driving force for his decision to run. He spoke with the Robertson family and they supported his decision to run. He also said that his famous family will likely make campaign appearances for him.
