'The Fault in Our Stars' breaks pre-sale records

By Chelsea Lewis ,

The Fault in Our Stars has not yet been released in North America and the romantic drama is already setting box office records. The film has become the biggest pre-selling romantic drama in Fandango’s history.

Variety reported that the film is an adaptation of John Green's best-selling novel and the film will be put out in a wide release beginning on Friday, June 6.

Exact numbers have not yet been released about ticket pre-sales but moviegoers have been buying in advance for the film in large quantities.

The Fault in Our Stars is currently outpacing other popular romantic dramas such as The Vow, Safe Haven and Dear John. However, TFIOS lucks out at not having to compete in Fandango's eyes against the Twilight franchise, since that is considered a fantasy romance.

The current record holder is The Vow which opened to $41.2 million in its first weekend in wide release.

The film is already expected to make over $30 million during its opening weekend.

The Hollywood Life added that the stars attended the recent world premiere for the film, including, Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort.

Woodley had another show stopping moment on the red carpet with her two-piece yellow strapless designer gown that was paired with simple gold jewelry.
