General movie-going audiences probably know Frank Grillo best for his appearance in Captain America: The Winter Solider earlier this year. Just recently, the 51-year-old actor has been cast as the lead in the upcoming American remake of The Raid: Redemption.
Grillo told We Got This Covered that he was cast as the lead in Patrick Hughes' (The Expendables 3) remake. Grillo was one offour actors up for the part. Actors Luke Evans, Anthony Mackie and Ethan Hawke were also considered.
Filming was originally scheduled to begin in September of 2014, but has been rescheduled to begin in January 2015, Grillo told We Got This Covered.
Grillo will next be seen in The Purge: Anarchy on July 18. He is also starring in the new DirecTV one-hour drama series, Kingdom, which will premiere on October 8 and 9, according to Variety. The show centers around a a family's mixed martial arts gym, where Grillo's character is the boss. Former Disney star Nick Jonas will also star, along with Jonathan Tucker, Joanna Going, Matt Lauria, and Kiele Sanchez.
