‘Girl Meets World’ may help Disney’s ratings and audience

Girl Meets World has finally aired, and Disney hopes this series will be as popular as Boy Meets World.

Disney channel has many different live-action shows from which to choose. Their shows such as Liv and Maddie, Dog with a Blog, and Austin and Ally are loved by children, mainly young girls, but they are not popular enough to help Disney’s falling ratings. With the debut of Girl Meets World, a show following the '90s television hit Boy Meets World, Disney is hoping for a rise in ratings.

Disney has always been able to attract preteen girls with shows like Lizzy McGuire and Hannah Montana. However, it’s possible that Girl Meets World may attract a different audience: those who miss Boy Meets World. While the Boy Meets World fans may tune into the new show, Girl Meets World can also appeal to other younger viewers, too, says CNN Entertainment.

Another show of Disney’s that appealed to both adults and young teens was Good Luck Charlie, according to The New York Times. Such a wide audience is rare, but Disney has similar hopes for Girl Meets World. There is a possibility that fans of Boy Meets World will judge this new show too fast, losing the adult audience.
