Kenneth Webb, 56, has been arrested after police discovered him hiding under a child’s bed in a New Jersey home Thursday. He was found armed with a knife.
The incident happened around 4 a.m., when homeowner Darla Donohue heard noise coming from her 6-year-old son's bedroom and realized it was his piggy bank, but the boy was sleeping in her room at the time.
Darla told NBC New York, “I felt my heart beating out of my chest and knew I had to do something, so I just go up out of the bed, he might have heard me. I got the phone, turned the light on in the hallway between the bedroom I was in and the bedroom he was in.”
Darla called 911 and reported that an intruder was in her home. Police responded and found Webb hiding underneath the boy’s bed.
Webb allegedly tried to steal jewelry along with cash found in Joshua’s piggy bank. The young boy said, “He was trying to steal my money but I don’t think he got anything.”
According to North Jersey, Webb was charged with two counts of burglary, unlawful possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
He was sent to Bergen County Jail with a bail set at $35,000.
