Lorde responded to the negative comments Iggy Azalea made regarding Lorde's Nirvana tribute at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction that took place in April.
Iggy Azalea, known for hit song "Fancy," had some very harsh words regarding the tribute.
"Nothing against her, but I think when you're doing a tribute to someone that's dead, generally it should be the person's peer, Lorde is not Kurt Cobain's peer. No matter if she killed the performance or not, I just don't think it's appropriate," Azalea said.
Billboard reported that Lorde responded to the comments by saying that she "enjoyed" her performance and had a really good time at the event at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
In her interview with the Herald Sun, Lorde opened up about the comments and her own struggle with word choice. “I’ve been in a position where I’ve said something in an interview where I’ve thought, ‘Damn, I wish I could take that back.”
Lorde even added that she has nothing but respect for Azalea and that anyone doing well in the industry should have respect. “I don’t know how (Iggy) is feeling about it,” Lorde said, “But anyone who’s doing well deserves respect, and I respect what she’s doing.”
