The medical files of Formula One legend Michael Schumacher have been stolen from his hospital and might be for sale.
Schumacher suffered severe head injuries after a skiing accident in the French Alps and just recently awoke from a half a year long coma, according to The Independent. He was recently transferred from the French Grenoble Hospital to University Hospital Lausanne in Switzerland.
Schumacher’s medical files, which hold details of medical procedures such as surgeries, are reportedly on sale for £40,000 or around $68,100. They have been on sale for numerous days, according to Shumacher’s spokesperson Sabine Kehm.
Speaking of the files, Kehm has stated, as reported by The Telegraph, that, “We cannot judge if these documents are authentic. However, the documents are clearly stolen. The theft has been reported. The authorities are involved.”
Kehm states that criminal charges will be pressed, should any publication of the private medical information take place.
