In a press release, posted by ComingSoon, The game will be released both on the two next-gen consoles, as well as Playstaion 3 and Xbox 360. There was no specific release date provided, only that it will be released sometime in 2015.

Fans of the series will get another glimpse of MK X at the upcoming E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) June 10-12 in Los Angeles.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment president Martin Tremblay said, "Mortal Kombat is our acclaimed, world-renowned franchise and we are now advancing the fighting genre with Mortal Kombat X." He added, "NetherRealm Studios is best in class at delivering games fans love and they are taking their iconic brand to the next level with Mortal Kombat X."

NetherRealm Studios creative director Ed Boon said that they worked to keep the latest game very much in line with the rest of the franchise by keeping focus on "over-the-top, visceral fighting."

The trailer is evidence of this and shows off a violent and brutal fight very much in keeping with previous titles in the franchise. Two iconic characters, Scorpion and Sub Zero, face off in the video using many of their beloved moves and even a fatality to wrap everything up.
