Numerous concertgoers at Avicii’s Boston show transported to hospital

By Mila Whiteley,

More than 80 fans of Avicii had to be transported to the hospital during his Boston concert due to health problems caused by alcohol, heat and illegal drug use on Wednesday.

Avicii is a Swedish performer and DJ, known for his electronic sound and his songs “Hey Brother” and “Wake me up.”

He performed his Boston tour stop at TD Garden, a venue now being cited for intoxicated patrons and illegal use of drugs, according to WHDH.

"There was a lot of drinking and some drugs. It was really hot in there," a concertgoer said.

Live Nation spokeswoman Jacqueline Peterson said in a statement that the majority of those transported to the hospital were “people outside the venue who were too impaired to be allowed inside,” reports the Associated Press. Many were simply transported as a safety measure.

EMS Deputy Superintendent for Boston Mike Bosse echoed this message saying, that there appeared to be no life-threatening injuries.
