Ringo Starr does keep in contact with his old chum, Paul McCartney, and recently gave a health update on his former Beatle bandmate.
In an interview with Access Hollywood, Starr said that he spoke with McCartney over the phone while McCartney was still in the hospital. The “Band on the Run” singer was sidelined due to an illness, which forced him to cancel a tour of Japan and South Korea and rescheduled U.S. tour dates.
“I spoke to him actually while he was in hospital,” Starr said, reports Rolling Stone. “Because not knowing the time, I just sort of dialed and – 'Hello?' And he picked up, and we said hi, and he said he's doing OK, that he was still in hospital. Now he's out and getting fit and he's getting ready to rock.”
Starr continued, “He's doing good...I text him, and he texts me back.”
He said that McCartney recently hung out with his wife, Barbara; Joe Walsh and his wife; and Nancy, McCartney’s wife.
McCartney, 72, has been spotted by the U.K. tabloids vacationing as he gets prepared to go out on tour again. The Daily Mail spotted him and Nancy enjoying some time at the beach in Ibiza.
As for Starr, he is still on tour, so you still have a chance to see at least one Beatle this summer.
