Shailene Woodley defends Miley Cyrus, praises George Clooney and Stevie Nicks and more in Vanity Fair

By Gina DiFalco,

Shailene Woodley is a free spirit herself, so it’s no surprise that she took an opportunity to defend “Wrecking Ball” singer Miley Cyrus in what some would consider wild behavior. She also discussed her opinions on a wide variety of fellow celebrities.

The Fault in Our Stars actress spoke with Vanity Fair for their July issue and said it’s “none of your business” what Cyrus does because she’s not being “mean or cruel” to anyone.

“She just does herself. And regardless of whether you agree with what she’s doing or not, it’s none of your business what she does,” said Woodley. “She’s not in the world doing mean things. Why are all these parents or all these people freaking out about Miley being herself? If you don’t want your kids to watch it, you know, you can change that situation at home, but don’t make a big deal of what she’s doing. Make a big deal about the bullies at school who are beating kids up.”

She also discussed other celebrities like Laura Dern, Kate Winslet, George Clooney, Kirsten Dunst, Josh Hutcherson and Stevie Nicks.

Woodley said of her The Descendents co-star, Clooney, that he “knew every single person’s name on set, and he hung out with the truck drivers more than he probably hung out with the actors.” She also said of Dern, who plays her mother in Fault in Our Stars that she practically lives at her home, noting “It’s kind of crazy how similar we are.”

She went on to say that Fleetwood Mac’s music has been a huge part of her life, so she believes “there’s no one in the world like Stevie Nicks.”
