Teen boy who stabbed younger brothers pleads guilty

A teenage boy from Utah pleaded guilty for the murder of his two younger brothers.
The 16-year-old, Aza Ray Vidinhar, stabbed his brothers to death in his family home last year.

According to the Daily Mail, the two boys, ages 4 and 10, were left with their older brother while their mother took their sisters to a dance recital. Their father was away on a business trip.

At the time, the parents of the teen requested he be charged as a juvenile and get mental health treatment.

The parents’ request was not ignored.

The boy’s attorney, Todd Utzinger, won the fight to keep the boy from being sent directly to adult prison.

“It would be inhuman for any 16-year-old child to go straight to the prison without first having an opportunity for treatment and rehabilitation,” Utzinger said.

Vidinhar will remain in juvenile detention until he turns 21. After his juvenile sentence he will begin serving a sentence of 15 years to life in adult prison, the Associated Press reported.

If he causes trouble in juvenile detention, he could be sent to adult prison before turning 21.
