After having back surgery in March, Tiger Woods announced that he is ready to return to the links.
Woods made the announcement on his Facebook page and said that he would be playing at the upcoming Quicken Loans National, which he hosts at the Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland.
“After a lot of therapy I have recovered well and will be supporting my foundation next week at the Quicken Loans National,” the golfer said.
The Washington Post reports that is has been nearly four months since he has played golf competitively as he needed to recover from back surgery.
His ranking as the number one player fell during this time and he also missed two major competitions.
Even though he only has been making full swings fairly recently, he seems to be confident in his ability to play.
Woods' announcement came just hours before anyone wishing to enter the event had to commit. His team noted that the veteran golfer would not be returning to the links if he had not been cleared by a doctor to play.
There have been only three times Woods has missed his tournament due to injuries, but his agent, Mark Steinberg, reportedly said Woods made sure to test his back the way he needed to in order to make sure he was ready.
Woods is reported to be extremely excited to be back in the game.
