As if the series being over didn't make us sad enough, Harry Potter star Tom Felton says he still feels sympathy towards his character, Draco Malfoy, as well as other dark characters he has played.
"To be able to humanize these characters who come across as bad is a joy for me," Felton told People. "I like to find sympathy for people who are often begrudged by society."
It's hard to find an actor who can embody an antagonistic character as well as some people, like Felton did with Malfoy, and make them three-dimensional, as Bustle remarked.
Making the audience think twice about if they really hate a villain makes that actor know that they have done their job right, and Felton is someone who is great at accomplishing that goal.
Although we won't be seeing him playing Malfoy again, Felton can be seen on TNT's Murder The First where he plays a potentially murderous Silicon Valley genius. Our love for Malfoy truly is never ending and I'm sure every other misunderstood character Felton plays will find a way to pull at our heartstrings the same way.
