The Avengers star Tom Hiddleston has been tapped to play country music singer Hank Williams in I Saw The Light.
The British actor will star as the country music icon in the film, with Marc Abraham at the helm, Deadline first reported. In addition to directing, Abraham adapted the script from Colin Escott's biography.
The film will follow Williams as he rose to fame and the struggles that came along with it before he tragically died at the age of 29 from heart failure.
RatPac Entertainment, Bron Studios and Creative Wealth Media were able to secure a deal with Sony ATV to use the country music singer's music catalog, so in addition to playing Williams, Hiddleston will also sing in the film.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, production on I Saw The Light will begin in October and filming will be done in Louisiana.
Aaron L. Gilbert, Brett Ratner, G. Marq Roswell and Abraham will produce the film, while RatPac's James Packer will executive produce.
Hiddleston has been busy as of late as he will soon start filming on Ben Wheatley's High-Rise and just finished work on Crimson Peak with Guillermo del Toro.
