Warren Beatty's Howard Hughes project has finished shooting

Principal photography has wrapped on Warren Beatty’s untitled Howard Hughes project. The shoot was 74 days long.

According to Indiewire, the film will focus on the romance between the aging aviator and a younger woman. In addition to directing, Beatty will play Hughes opposite Mirror Mirror’s Lily Collins, who’s set to play the love interest.

Beatty and Collins will be joined on screen by Annette Bening, Tarissa Farmiga, Matthew Broderick, Martin Sheen and Alec Baldwin.

The film was in gestation for nearly two decades, Deadline reported back in February. It ultimately took a combination of billionaires Ron Burkle and Steve Bing, Windsor Media’s Terry Semel, Arnon Milchan’s New Regency and James Packer’s and Brett Ratner’s RatPac Entertainment to finance the estimated $27 million production.

While shooting is finished, Beatty joked that it may take a year to edit all of the footage. Showbiz411 learned that, in typical Beatty fashion, each scene took many takes. Beatty, who won the Best Director Oscar for Reds in 1981, hasn’t directed or acted in a film since 2001’s Town and Country.
