‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ reaches franchise record with $500 million

Two weekends ago X-Men: Days of Future Past was released nationwide and the film has already reached a franchise best. The film has made over half a billion dollars at the box office so far.

Days of Future Past has made a total of $500.2 million at the box office. The previous record that was held by the franchise was 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand, which grossed $459.4 million. Days of Future Past made $128.2 million globally, which helped to push the film over the top and to take the top spot in the franchise. The movie made $32.6 million domestically and $95.6 million internationally.

Variety reported that Singer produced Days of Future Past along with Lauren Shuler Donner, Hutch Parker and screenwriter Simon Kinberg. The movie, which featured both actors from the original X-Men team and the X-Men: First Class team, cost $200 million to produce.

IGN added that this weekend Maleficent topped the box office and X-Men: Days of Future Past went into the second place position at the box office.

A sequel to X-Men: Days of Future Past, X-Men: Apocalypse is already in the works.
