The Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, did not get the royal treatment during a visit to Johnny Rockets Tuesday.
The Associated Press reported that while she was there Franklin was yelled at by a Johnny Rockets employee for eating at a table when she had ordered takeout. Franklin was reportedly told that she was not permitted to sit down and eat her food inside the restaurant.
The 72-year-old "Respect" singer had just performed a sold out show at the Artpark Outdoor Amphitheatre in Lewiston when she decided to grab food at the popular burger joint, according to The New York Daily News.
Franklin released a statement admonishing the worker for being "very rude, unprofessional and nasty."
The Johnny Rockets spokeswoman apologized for the employer's behavior and stated that the owner of the Johnny Rockets franchise regretted the actions of its "new and very young employee." The owner has reportedly spoken with the employee and clarified Johnny Rockets' takeout policies and procedures.
