Ariana Grande posts 'sappy' message to fans after news of 'Sam & Cat's' cancellation

By Gina DiFalco,

Following the official news that Nickelodeon has cancelled Ariana Grande and Jeanette McCurdy’s Sam & Cat after just one season, the “Problem” singer has posted a sweet note to her fans.

The news just broke and Grande told fans on her social media sites that she wanted to wait until the official announcement to comment on the cancellation. The show was plagued with cancellation rumors after racy photos of McCurdy were leaked and she was reportedly feuding with the network about her salary.

For Grande, the show served as a platform for her music career to skyrocket and for this, she’s thankful.

In the lengthy message, she posted in part, “I will always hold Cat near and dear to my heart and appreciate her help in my personal growth from teenager to adult. I know she seems like a simple, daft character (and she is) but she played such a huge part in my life I just wanted to express my appreciation for her.”

She then tweeted after posting the message, “Sorry for the very long sappy thing haha. I felt in my heart it was very necessary!”
