Celebrity Kindness - Anne Hathaway

Celebrities are often taking a stand for their favorite charities, and their good efforts are never missed.

Why do celebrities promote worthwhile causes? Sometimes, it’s to give back to their communities. Sometimes, it’s just out of the goodness of their hearts.

Charity events always make a splash, and getting dressed up for a good cause is always in great style. Some celebs, though, are doing exactly the opposite to get a similar effect.

Anne Hathaway and her husband, Adam Shulman, were seen wearing signs to publicize some of their favorite charities, www.worldofchildren.org and www.feedingamerica.org. The Princess Diaries star followed in the footsteps of Spiderman’s Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield, and literally put a sign in front of her face with the name of the charity she hoped to promote.

Hathaway, 31, previously teamed with Netflix to support Feeding America, making additional strides to support the good cause.

Ross Fraser is a spokesman for Feeding America. The organization is dedicated to working with food banks to end hunger. They believe in the “worth and the dignity of every person,” according to the official website. Feeding America works with community, and they believe in advocacy and service.

Was Hathaway’s display too clever? The not-for-profit organization did not think so. Writing the organization’s name on cardboard was rewarded with kind words. Feeding America posted the light-hearted stunt on their Facebook page. He says that the attention that Hathaway brought to the organization had a great impact on awareness.

“It’s no accident that we had this huge uptick of people at the same time that Anne Hathaway did this promotion,” Fraser said, according to The Washington Post.

The spokesperson says the internet traffic on their site greatly increased around the fourth of July holiday season, and this creative effort got nods all around.

In addition to her charitable work, Hathaway is also known for her roles in Les Miserables and Don Peyote. She is also playing Brand in Interstellar, a movie that is currently in post-production.
