A young girl was killed by a stray bullet during a sleepover with friends on Friday night in the West Side of Chicago.
The 11-year-old girl was on the first floor of a home when a bullet went through the window and hit her at around 9:30 p.m., WLS reports. Several shots were heard in the neighborhood at the time of the shooting.
She was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital where she was in critical condition, but later died there, said Arnina Greer, Chicago Police news affairs officer.
No one is currently in custody for the shooting and there haven't been any reports on the cause.
"We do need these individuals and we need them in custody as soon as possible," said community activist, Andrew Holmes.
According to NBC 5, this was the second shooting in that neighborhood on Friday, with three people, including another young girl, suffering injuries.
In mid-afternoon, a 12-year-old girl, 33-year-old woman and 44-year-old man were shot by someone who walked up and just started shooting.
All three survived, with the girl and woman taken to the hospital in stable condition, while the man was treated at the scene for a graze wound.
