Swiss forward Clint Capela has signed a rookie contract with the Houston Rockets.
The Rockets had considered keeping Capela in Europe as they tried to sign Chris Bosh. However, Bosh re-signed with the Miami Heat. So, Capela will be on the Rockets roster next season. He will make $991,000 next season and $1.03 million the next season with options for another two seasons, according to Yahoo Sports.
"I'm really, really excited," Capela told MyFox Houston. "This takes a lot of time. So I really did it. I'm going to come back here for the practices and work with Coach (Kevin) McHale and the players."
He went on to add, "It's like a dream. I've worked so hard for this. Everybody in my family is excited for me."
Capela has played for France Chalon in the French League the last two seasons. In 22 games last season, he averaged 9.4 points and 6.9 rebounds, according to CBS Sports. He averaged 11.2 points and 6.5 rebounds in ten EuroCup games. He made 71.4 percent of his three-point shots.
The Rockets will pay Chalon $500,000 to get Capela’s official FIBA letter of clearance.
