A three-year-old boy managed to get behind the wheels of a jeep, but he wasn’t a very good driver, since he crashed the jeep into a house. At least he got back home to watch cartoons.
The incident took place in Myrtle Creek, Oregon 7 p.m. last Tuesday. It started when a police officer saw the young boy, only wearing a diaper, sitting by himself in a Jeep Wrangler. According to KPTV, the officer spoke with the boy, who said his parents were not home, but a relative, Brennan Pennington, 22, was in the house. Pennington was given a warning.
While police claim that the boy had the keys to the Jeep at the time, his aunt, Amy Mayberry told KPTV that the boy did not have the keys. Mayberry, who owns the Jeep, claims that the child ran to the vehicle while Pennington was taking a nap.
Nevertheless, the fact is that the boy somehow drove the car. He apparently kicked it out of gear and the Jeep began rolling towards a neighbor’s house. The Jeep struck the house and the boy ran back to his house. He really didn’t want to miss his favorite cartoons.
When police arrived at the home around 7:30 p.m., the boy was sitting on the couch, enjoying some cartoons “as if nothing had ever happened,” police say.
ABC News is reporting that Pennington is in fact the boy’s mother and she was cited by police for not properly supervising the child and that comes with a fine.
The family also came to “a civil compromise” with the neighbor on the minor damage the boy caused.
