According to the Hollywood Reporter, U.K. culture secretary Sajid Javid made the announcement at an industry event.

The Hollywood Reporter also noted that Warner Bros. acquired the Leavesden studio a few years ago and is planning to expand the complex with the addition of three new stages and the addition of 100,000 square feet of office space.

According to IGN, the film trilogy will be set 70 years before the events of the Harry Potter series and will focus on a character named Newt Scamander, an expert on magical creatures, who is mentioned in the Harry Potter books as the author of a textbook. Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling will be penning the screenplay, her first attempt at writing for the screen.

While no director or cast members have been announced, the film is planned to be released on Nov. 18, 2016.
