Yaya DaCosta channeled the late Whitney Houston in the first look at Lifetime's upcoming made-for-TV biopic on the singer. She recreated the “I Look to You” singer's Whitney album cover for the photo.
DaCosta is best known for being the runner-up to Eva Marcelle on Tyra Banks' America’s Next Top Model, and for starring in hit movies such as The Kids Are Alright, Tron: Legacy, and The Butler. Now, she is cast as the leading role in the new Lifetime biopic I Will Always Love You: The Whitney Houston Story, playing the Grammy award-winning singer.
Entertainment Weekly published the first image of DaCosta in the role.

BBC reported that the biopic will be directed by Academy Award nominee Angela Bassett. Bassett was also a close friend of the pop star and co-starred with her in the movie Waiting to Exhale.
The biopic will depict the life and career of the New Jersey beauty, which includes her groundbreaking debut, the song that catapulted her career to a level unimaginable, as well as her turbulent marriage to R&B singer Bobby Brown.
