‘Harry Potter’ actor Dave Legeno found dead in Death Valley

By Rachel Karach,

British actor and professional MMA fighter Dave Legeno was found dead in the Death Valley Desert in California this week.

The 50-year-old mixed martial arts expert and film star reportedly passed away while hiking in Death Valley as a result of heat stroke, according to Inyo County officials who spoke with TMZ.

Temperatures in the desert can reach up to 120 degrees and police currently do not believe Legeno's death was the result of foul play.

A group of hikers came upon Legeno’s body, which was discovered near Manly Beacon in the Californian desert. It is speculated that the actor could have passed away nearly a week ago before his body was found.

The Mirror reports that aside from his career in wrestling, boxing and judo, Legeno was known for his recurring role in the Harry Potter series as the evil werewolf, Fenrir Greyback.

Harry Potter fans in particular are taking to Twitter to voice their condolences and support for the late actor. “ATTENTION POTTERHEADS,” one tweet by fan Emily Niamhl reads. “Please raise your wands in honour, memory and respect to David Legeno. The greatest centaur of all times."

Her grief must be so severe she forgot what role he played in the films and his name.

Legeno leaves behind a daughter in her 20s.
