Japanese student murdered and dismembered classmate

A 15-year-old Japanese girl was arrested Sunday for the murder and dismemberment of a classmate.

The unidentified girl admitted to strangling 15-year-old Aiwa Matsuo by hitting her in the back of the head with a blunt instrument more than 10 times, and then severing her head and left hand. Matsuo’s body was found on a bed in the suspect’s apartment, reported Japan Today.

Matsuo’s parents reported her missing when she failed to return home Saturday night. She was visiting the suspect at her apartment when she was killed around 8 p.m.

According to the AFP, the suspect lived alone, but in an apartment in the same city. She admitted to committing the crime and said she acted alone.

Four high profile crimes, with two being committed by school children, over the recent years have shocked people across the country.

In 1997, two schoolchildren were killed by a 14-year-old girl. The girl left the head of one of the children in front of the school he attended.

In 2004, an 11-year-old primary school girl slit the throat of her 12-year-old classmate at the elementary school they attended.
