Jason Biggs causes outrage with Malaysia crash joke

By Erica M. Szkola,

Jason Biggs is taking the heat for his recent joke on Twitter regarding the Malaysia Airlines crash.

Just shortly after the tragedy of Flight MH17 in the Ukraine, the comedian tweeted, “Anyone wanna buy my Malaysian Airlines frequent flier miles?," causing an uproar among his followers for the insensitivity. He followed by questioning how a commercial airline could have mistakenly been shot down.

The 36-year-old did not apologize for the tweets, but instead responded to the negative reactions saying that people are just looking for things to get angry about. He responded by also saying that just because he made a joke does not mean he does not have empathy for the victims and their families.

Biggs also shot back at TMZ for posting an image of the crash next to his face in their report of the incident. “Hey TMZ,” he tweeted, “Well done on posting my face next to the wreckage of the plane- you might almost think I actually shot it down.”

There has been no response from TMZ as of now.
