Kirstie Alley's TV Land series 'Kirstie' canceled after one season

After only a season, TV Land has decided that no more was needed of Kirstie Alley's series Kirstie.

That TV Land has canceled the freshman isn't too surprising as the show lost creator and showrunner Marco Pennette back in February just as the first season came to a close, Variety reports.

The series followed a Broadway star who found herself meeting a son she gave up for adoption years ago after his adopted mother passed away. The series ran for a total of 12 episodes.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Eric Petersen played Alley's character's son in Kirstie, which also starred Michael Richards and Rhea Perlman.

Maybe she had an inkling the show wasn't coming back as Perlman has already committed to a quest star spot on the next season of The Mindy Project.

Though Kirstie didn't work out for TV Land, the network has been looking to develop more original comedies and already has Younger, The Soul Man, Jennifer Falls, Hot in Cleveland and The Exes airing.

The network is also leaning towards greenlighting a Jim Gaffigan project and has a pilot order in for Teachers.
