Lakers waive Kendall Marshall, sign Xavier Henry

By Leighton Schneider,

The Los Angeles Lakers have waived point guard Kendall Marshall and re-signed small forward Xavier Henry after he became a free agent.

Marshall was going to be the back up point guard this season after starting 45 games last year, while averaging 8.0 points and 8.8 assists per game, according to ESPN.

Marshall’s contract was not guaranteed for the season and he was supposed to make less than $1 million for the season.

Marshall will now go into waivers where any team may sign him.

According to Yahoo Sports NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski, the Lakers may try to re-sign him if he clears waivers.

Henry was a former first round pick by the Memphis Grizzlies in 2010. He has played for three teams in his career.
