Miley Cyrus collaborated with fellow musicians and friends, the Flaming Lips, to create one of the strangest videos on the Internet.
According to Rolling Stone, the video was going to be one of the band’s music videos for a song alluding to drug use before the group decided to make it into an odd short film. Cyrus reportedly helped out her favorite band while she was hospitalized for a severe allergic reaction a few months ago.
Band leader Wayne Coyne, who designed the 21-year-old singer’s new tattoo, dubs the video “Blonde SuperFreak Steals the Magic Brain.”
The video’s title isn’t the only strange thing about the piece; the plot centers around a magic brain with special powers and lots of trippy effects one might find in a '90s alternative rock music video.
Coyne’s work features Cyrus suffering from a drug overdose, oddball villains, weird stock footage, nudity and quite a bit of profanity. Miley can be seen screaming into a camera about the supposed magical brain in an unidentifiable accent.
As for the controversial singer’s participation in the project, Coyne said, “We were lucky enough to get a couple of hours with a bedridden Miley Cyrus. And even though she was still quite ill, she was full of laughs and great absurd suggestions."
