Nicki Minaj is addressing the made up feud that pins her against “Fancy” rapper Iggy Azaela. On Twitter, the “Pill N Potions” rapper shot down rumors she was dissing Azaela during her BET Awards acceptance speech for Best Female Hip-Hop Artist.

On Wednesday, she started her Twitter rant by saying that the “media puts words in my mouth all the time and this is no different.”

As we previously reported, it was considered that Minaj was dissing Azaela for not writing any of her own songs when she said during her acceptance speech, “What I want the world to know about Nicki Minaj: when you hear Nicki Minaj spit, Nicki Minaj wrote it.” She tweeted she will “always take a stance” on the issue of writing your own material.

She continued, “I believe we're smart enough to write down our own thoughts and perspective, just like the men do. I've been saying this for 5 YEARS.” She went on to praise Missy Elliot and Lauryn Hill for writing their own music and continued to praise Azaela on her recent success.

“I've congratulated Iggy on the success of Fancy, publicly. She should be very proud of that. All the women nominated should b proud,” she tweeted. “That will never change my desire to motivate women to write. Our voices have to be heard. I hope I inspire up & coming females to do that.”
