ABC News reported that a year ago, he and his wife of more than two decades, Cynthia Rhodes, had decided to go their separate ways.

In a recent interview with ABC News, Marx opened up about his relationship with Cynthia and how this has impacted his music.

"I had the great blessing and fortune to share the majority of my adult life with as fine a person as I've ever known. I can't say enough about Cynthia. She's an incredibly remarkable human being," said Marx. "I was blessed to share not only a life with her but her company so there's nothing but loving feelings for her. I celebrate the fact that I was married to this remarkable woman."

This transition within his life has helped the album move in a different direction. The lyrics are focusing more on starting fresh compared to the pain of a break up. He also went on to explain that this album was really influenced by his new passion of electronic dance music.

The Tennessean added that Marx has also been writing with Keith Urban and with many members of the growing country music industry.

"The music is so easy for Keith and I to write together because we love the same kind of music and we are influenced by the same music. We love big hooks and great melodies. But then when we start writing lyrics, I want to kill him and me in a murder-suicide pact. It's a lot of staring into space and our laptops," said Marx.

Beautiful Goodbye was released on July 8 and Marx has released a music video for his latest single, "Whatever We Started."
