Robin Thicke got extremely candid about his split from wife Paula Patton on Tuesday during an appearance at New York's Hot 97, revealing he hasn’t seen her in four months.
The “Get Her Back” singer said his new album Paula is his way of apologizing for anything he’s done in the past to hurt her. He’s hopeful, however, that they will just take some time apart then resume their marriage.
"If you’ve been together that long, you kinda became adults together instead of being adults and then meeting,” he explained, Us Weekly reports. “But maybe a year or two off, we’ll become our own people without each other and then it will be meant to be."
He also admitted Patton hasn’t heard the album, just a few songs. He stressed that the distance they’re putting in between them right now is imperative for their relationship.
"The album is exactly what happens when you lose the love of your life and you're trying to figure it out in your head," he said. He also refuted rumors that they’re broken up right now because of his infidelity, saying there’s “a hundred different reasons” and of them was that he got too big of a head.
"She's the best girl in the world, a great mother, and still a good friend," he said. "I want to wish her well and let her know that she’s a great person and she deserves to have a good life… She was my rock… Everything we have right now, we built together."
Earlier this week, VH1 started a #AskThicke for fans to ask Thicke questions, but the hashtag backfired.
