James Garner, a television legend, passed away on July 19 at the ripe age of 86.
According to TheCelebrityCafe.com, Daniel Levine described Garner as "Hollywood’s last leading men from an era when good-looking stars dominated the screen."
The Washington Post noted Garner, who was best known for his appearances in The Maverick and The Rockford Files passed away at his home in Los Angeles. The police in Los Angeles confirmed his death to the Associated Press. Apparently, there was no immediate cause to his death; however, Garner did have a stroke a couple years ago.
Garner will be remembered for his appearance in The Great Escape which released in 1963, The Americanization of Emily which released in 1964, Victor/Victoria which released in 1982, and Murphy's Romancein 1985, for which he won an Academy Award.

When Garner was in his 70s, he continued to be active in both, TV and film. Back in 2002, Garner appeared as Sandra Bullock's father in the film Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood. A year later, he united with the cast of 8 Simple Rules ... For Dating My Teenage Daughter. Garner starred as the role of a grandfather in that sitcom after John Ritter, the father, died during the second season of the show.
