If you saw armed apes on horseback, what would you do? Friday, July 11, 2014, will bring man versus primate to the big screen once again. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is the continuation of the life of Caesar (played by Andy Serkis), a genetically enhanced ape, who has set up shop in the wilderness with his followers. Since we last saw Caesar, ten years have passed. The apes have prospered while a devastating virus tears through the human race.

A desperate group of survivors explores the forest and discovers the ape colony. Immediately they are threatened by the creatures. Though the meeting started off hostile, the group calms down and mingles with the apes. Unfortunately, man has a tendency of destroying things they are afraid of or do not understand. War is inevitable.
The action, sci-fi and adventure film was directed by Matt Reeves, who will also direct and write the untitled Planet of the Apes sequel, which will be released July 29, 2016. It appears that 20th Century Fox is very optimistic about Dawn of the Planet of the Apes' success at the box office. For their sake, I hope this movie lives up to the hype.
