'Vampire Diaries' fans raise over $15,000 in two days to help Paul Wesley's sick friend Maggie

By Erica M. Szkola,

The Vampire Diaries actor Paul Wesley took to YouTube to ask fans to help raise money in support his friend Maggie who was diagnosed with a massive brain tumor and is scheduled to go into surgery next week.

“Maggie is 30 years old, she works full time, but the medical bills that her insurance won’t cover are going to be monumental and virtually insurmountable,” Wesley said in the video posted just yesterday.

According to MTV News, as of this morning fans and supporters have been able to raise over $15,000 on the Rally.org page called, “Friends of Maggie” for her surgery bills. Fans of the show have gathered together in support of Wesley and his friend, Maggie, and have continued to share the video to spread the word.

The actor is also giving away a Vampire Diaries poster signed by the entire cast as well as a personal video phone call in appreciation for the support with the fundraiser to a few lucky fans.

The Rally.org page hopes to raise a goal of $25,000 in support of Maggie’s surgery.
